NMC Transfer Guide
To: University of Michigan - Ann Arbor
Program: General Education without MTA
This guide is prepared for students who wish to transfer to the University of Michigan, but have not yet chosen a specific major and have not completed the MTA.
Admission criteria
A successful UM transfer student to the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts:
- Is in good academic and social standing at NMC.
- Has at least a 3.0 GPA, with our most competitive applicants have a 3.5 or higher.
- Is taking courses across different disciplines like Quantitative Reasoning, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Humanities/English, and Foreign Language.
- Has earned sophomore or junior standing (preferably) with transferable credit.

Distribution requirements
The following courses are listed to facilitate transfer and fulfill distribution requirements at U of M. Links to a printable list and U of M's interactive site are provided below. These courses may not fulfill requirements for the Associate of Arts or Science degree at NMC. If your goal is to complete an Associate Degree before transferring, see a counselor for assistance. Students do not need to complete all the classes listed before transferring to U of M.
