Federal Stafford Student Loan Programs

To apply for and receive a Federal Stafford Student all of the following statements must apply:

  • You are admitted to Northwestern Michigan College in an eligible program of study.
    (NMC's online admissions form is at www.nmc.edu/webadmissions)
  • You have applied for federal financial aid thru the Free Application for Federal Student Aid FAFSA -- www.fafsa.ed.gov
  • Your application has been received and processed by Northwestern Michigan College
  • You have received an Award Letter from Northwestern Michigan College stating that you are eligible for a Federal Stafford Student Loan
  • Be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits; all courses enrolled in must be toward student's program of study.
  • Have a GPA of 2.0. Students with less than a 2.0 GPA will be reviewed after mid-semester and may be eligible for certification if there are no "Unsatisfactory" remarks noted at that time.
