After NMC I went on to earn my B.S. from Grand Valley State University. In 2005 my husband Clayton and I moved to Orange City, Florida where I am the Director of Marketing for LA Weight Loss - Florida Division. Graduate of GLMA class of 1982. Upon graduating I have worked aboard deep sea vessels until 1985 then transferring to inland towing vessels until 1987. Since that time I have been employed in the Great Lakes shipping industry, and currently sailing as Master for the Wisconsin & Michigan Steamship Company.

Brown O'Brien, Cathy (1979-1981) — Traverse City, MI
I left Traverse City and headed to Marguette. Ended up back in Mt. Pleasant at CMU and now I am back living and working in Traverse City. NMC was a blast and a wonderful first experience away from home. I would like to apologize to anyone who was an East Hall R.A. during my time at NMC. :-) There are many NMC alumni who return to Traverse City because of the great experiences we had here!

My education at NMC provided the foundation that led to an MBA; as well as recognition as a health care professional uniquely combining the clinical skills of an RN with the business analysis of how, and how much, health care should be paid for.

I am currently the Emergency Preparedness Coordinator for a three county Health Department here in Michigan. I would love to hear from any of the guys who were on my floor in the "zoo", the criminal justice/sociology crowd, or any of my West Hall friends from 77-79.

Hey there!! I came alive at NMC!! It changed my life for the better. I highly recommend dorm life - it was great. Go West Hall. I am married to a wonderful guy I met thru a college friend, Dewy Everett-Neddo. We just celebrated our 11th Anniversary. We have lived in Rapid City for over 12 years. We have a 10 year old son. I work in TC at Clark Manufacturing - a custom CNC Machine Shop - as a Quality Technician. I actually attended NMC twice-in Jan 1987-May 1989 and again in 1999-2001 over at the M-Tech building. Fagerstrom, Matt (1979-1981)
I attended the Petroleum Technology program, and have enjoyed continuous employment in the "Oil Business" since 1979. I have been self employed for the last 18 years. NMC was a fantastic experience, and the perfect start for a lifelong career. I think NMC does a super job. I would reccomend it to anyone.

Farrier, Daniel J (1983-1985) — Tomball, TX
After 3 years at NMC, Dan completed his B.S and M.S. in Geological Engineering at Michigan Technological University in 1988 and 1990 respectively. In the fall of 1990 Dan was hired by Shell Oil as a Hydrogeologist to help remediate contaminated soil and ground water at Shell's service stations all along the East Coast. Since then Dan has had various assignments with Shell in Pipe Line, Distribution and Marketing; working in Kalkaska, Michigan, Atlanta, Georgia, Reston, Virginia and currently in Houston, Texas. Dan's current assignment with Shell is Pricing Manager for Retail and Wholesale.

When Dan is not working for Shell, he enjoys being an Elder in his church, raising his 3 boys with his wife Shannon and spending time in his woodshop. He also enjoys taking his entire family back to Kalkaska each summer.

Felstead (Finfrock), Teresa (1981-1984) — Navarre, FL
After graduating from NMC I worked in a picture framing store for several years. In 1987 I moved to Omaha, Nebraska where I worked in the graphics department of a manufacturing Company. In 2000 I moved to florida with my two children and after working at a printing company for 3 years I chose to ventured out of the graphics field. I am currently the project coordinator for a custom home builder and really enjoying it.

My wife (Megan) is a new faculty member at Michigan Tech and we've recently moved from Ann Arbor to Hancock. I've maintained a research position at UM's Survey Research Center, although I'm now telecommuting from the beautiful Keweenaw Peninsula. My primary responsibility is being a stay at home dad. Our children are 3.5 years old and 4 months old. Life is good (and very busy)!

I am a certified medical assistant. I am the vice president of the Michigan Society of Medical Assistants. I am the president elect of the Northwest Chapter of MSMA. I have been married for 17 1/2 years and the mother of two daughters 6 and 8. My husband and I have just opened a restaurant in downtown Traverse City, The El Dorado. We enjoy attending the NMC BBQ each year.

Attended NMC in 1982, planned on getting a 2 year degree in computer programming. After my first year, I decided to get a 4 year degree so I switched to a Liberal Arts major and graduated in 1985 - then transferred to NMU (Marquette) and got a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems in 1987. Have been employed in the Information Technology field since 1987 - zikes, 18 years....where has it all gone ? Been married for 13 years. May of 2005, the City of Lansing declared May as Children's Mental Health Month. In May of 2006, the State Legislature proclaimed May as Children's Mental Health Month in the State of Michigan. The Michigan Association for Children's Mental Health Care was the catlyst for this action.
My daughter Dione as West Hall dwellers remember as," Dee Dee", passed away in 1995 at the age of 19. She became a home health aide and had her own daughter Haley. She was preparing to go on to nursing school at the time of her . I have two survivng children Dominic who is 21 and would like to become a history teacher and Doreen who is 19 and is currently attending Lansing Community College to become a registered nurse.
I co-authored a manual with Sara Way, MSW entitled, "The Parent's Guide to the Juvenile Justice," which is used in court systems around the country to help families navigate the Juvenile Justice and Mental Health Systems. Thanks to Dr. Shaw at NMC for igniting my passion for writing.
I would enjoy hearing from staff or alumnus from that time period. I also would like a copy of the yearbook, "Northwinds", if anyone has one they would like to sell.

I work as an Internal Medicine PA-C at the hospital. We only work with inpatients.

Perry, Barbara Ann (1985-1987) — Pasadena, CA
I graduated from with a Masters in Social Work from the University of Michigan in 1997 after completing an internship at the University of Michigan Cancer Center. I then worked for 8 years in the Marrow and Stem Cell Transplant Unit at the University of Michgan Hospital/Cancer Center in Ann Arbor and then moved to Pasadena, CA in December of 2003 to join the team at Huntington Hospital's Cancer Center. Though I miss Traverse City, Ann Arbor, and my friends in MI, I don't miss the Michigan Winters and I love the CA sun :) and my work here at the Cancer Center if extremely challenging. I am also the Community Outreach Education Coordinator and Group Facilitator.

After obtaining my private license in 1977, I enrolled in the Business Administration program and graduated in 1981 I moved to Saint Paul Minnesota, Phoenix and finally Toronto Canada, where I have lived for many years. I then went on to George Brown College where I earned my degree in Information Systems. I am currently working as a System Analyst for an investment and property management company in Toronto.
