The Aviation Program combines flight training, ground school and liberal arts courses that lead to an Associate in Applied Science Degree. Students begin their flight training in the first semester and will learn to fly in all four seasons. They will complete the Private, Instrument, and Commercial Certificates; Multi-engine, Flight Instructor, and an option for Instrument Flight Instructor Ratings, as well as specialty courses designed to increase hiring potential. The program is an FAA-approved flight training school. A level 6 state-of-the-art flight simulator enhances the experience obtained in the advanced technology single and multi-engine aircraft operated by NMC. NMC has relationships with many aviation businesses to increase hiring opportunities after graduation.

Transfer Opportunities

The University Center at NMC offers Baccalaureate degree program options for aviation students. Ferris State University and Davenport University offer a two plus two Bachelor Program for graduates of the NMC Aviation Program. Students may elect to move to Ferris or Davenport, or remain in Traverse City and continue the Bachelor Program at the University Center. Ferris State University offers a two plus two Bachelor Program for NMC Aviation Program graduates at their campus.
