The Bridge Program
Are You a Nontraditional Adult Learner?
- You have other pressing priorities in your life besides school, but
you need to get going on education and training;
- It’s been a while since you’ve been in any type of formal
classroom, and you’re just uncertain, fearful, or anxious about
how you measure up, where you stand in relation to the college experience;
- You feel any of the following: academically, physically, financially
or socially challenged in some way which threatens your confidence
in your ability to succeed and attend classes;
- You are working, but the world of technology is speeding ahead and
you want to upgrade all your course skills at the same time in the
shortest time possible.
The Learning Environment — Days or Nights
Students experience three core courses
together, just the way they are experienced in life---communications,
math and technology. With these courses an underlying career development
process rounds out the essence of the single semester, two day a week
college program.
We will help you problem-solve
in other areas of your life if you need it:
daycare, transportation, housing, etc.
Technology — You
can be “certified” in computers if you so choose. The Microsoft
Office Specialist (MOS) validates software knowledge and is recognized
across the globe. There are general technical skills to master: keyboarding,
Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook and a host of other skills that you
can choose to add to your learning. Meet your teacher---David
Crawford (231) 995-2245.
We help you with financial
aid, scholarships and other resources to launch your college career.
Communications — In
this course you receive general writing, speaking and listening tools
for the workplace and for further college. You also experience a career
process that results in a direction for your life. The unique, hands-on
approaches to all the aspects of the course has helped adult learners
see their true potential. “Everyone has a purpose in life,” according
to Charlene Lutes, who is the Bridge Coordinator and
your Applied Communications instructor. (231) 995-1971.
We help you find your way.
Math — Say
goodbye to anxiety! In the Bridge math course, your math anxiety disappears
through a unique approach to discovering new hassle-free math techniques.
You’ll feel so smart when you finish! Students who have failed
before succeed in this course. Meet Jason
Teichman, your math leader.
