Computer Industry Certifications at NMC

Microsoft Office SpecialistMicrosoft Office Specialist — Microsoft Office Specialist certification proves expertise in Microsoft applications. Holders of these credentials stand out as truly knowledgeable people. The M-TECsm Learning Center is an approved Microsoft testing center that offers open/online training classes in Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and PowerPoint. CompTIA (Computing Technology Industry Association) and Cisco certification exams are administered by VUE Testing Services or Prometrics. For additional program information, contact Scott Goethals <sgoethals@nmc.edu> at (231) 995-1166.

CompTIA A+ Certification — The CompTIA (Computing Technology Industry Association) A+ certification is the industry standard for validating vendor-neutral skills expected of an entry-level computer technician.

A+ Certification Prep I and A+ Certification Prep II are courses offered by the NMC M-TEC and provide the necessary preparation to pass the A+ Core Hardware and A+ Operating System Technologies Certification exams.

CompTIA Network+ Certification — The CompTIA Network+ certification validates technical competency in network administration and support. Those holding Network+ certification demonstrate critical knowledge of media and topologies, protocols and standards, network implementation and network support.

Networks — An Introduction and Network+ Certification Prep, provide the necessary preparation to pass the Network+ Certification exam.

CompTIA Security+ Certification — The CompTIA Security+ certification tests for security knowledge mastery of an individual with experience in networking. The CompTIA Security+ certification validates technical competency in security and covers industry-wide topics, including communication security, infrastructure security, cryptography, access control, authentication, external attack and operational and organization security. Network Security Management provides the necessary preparation to pass the Security+ Certification exam.

Cisco CCNA Certification — The CCNA certification (Cisco Certified Network Associate) indicates a foundation in, and apprentice knowledge of networking. CCNA certified professionals can install, configure, and operate LAN, WAN and dial access services for small networks (100 nodes or fewer), including but not limited to use of these protocols: IP, EIGRP, OSPF, Frame Relay, IP RIP, VLANs Rip, Ethernet, Access Lists.

Cisco Internetworking I through Cisco Internetworking IV are courses offered by the NMC M-TEC Cisco Networking Academy and provide the necessary preparation to pass the CCNA Exam.
