Legal Assistant Program Outcomes
The Program Outcomes of NMC's Legal Assistant Program are as follows:
- To demonstrate a thorough knowledge and understanding of the organization and operation of the U.S. legal system.
- To demonstrate a thorough knowledge and understanding of the organization and operation of a law office, and of the role of the paralegal in the effective delivery of legal services.
- To demonstrate a thorough knowledge and understanding of the ethical responsibilities of attorneys and legal assistants.
- To demonstrate a thorough knowledge and understanding of the relevant substantive and procedural areas of the law.
- To demonstrate an ability to use critical thinking skills to analyze legal and ethical issues logically and thoroughly, and to effectively problem solve.
- To demonstrate an ability to effectively use traditional and electronic resources to conduct legal research.
- To demonstrate an ability to communicate clearly, correctly, succinctly, and effectively, both orally and in writing, including an ability to prepare drafts of legal documents and pleadings.
- To demonstrate an ability to use the computer for various functions within the law office, including word processing, legal research, and timekeeping.
- To demonstrate interpersonal, teamwork, or leadership skills within a legal environment.
