Business Scholarships

The application period for scholarships offered through the Business Academic Area for the 2008-2009 school year is closed.

Glen A. Anderson Scholarship – a $2,000 award to a student from the service area with a minimum 3.25 grade point average who is enrolled in the Accounting program. Details are available from the Business academic area office.

Biederman Memorial Scholarship – $1,000 scholarships awarded from a grant from the Les and Anne Biederman Foundation to students in Maritime, Nursing and Business. Students must have a 2.0 minimum grade point average and be full- or part-time. Preference will be given to those verifying they are participating in clinical nursing or shipboard experiences.

H. Cox & Son Inc. Scholarship – a scholarship of varying amount made to full- or part-time business students residing in the NMC service area. Applicants must demonstrate financial need and have at least a 3.25 grade point average.

Economic Club of Traverse City Scholarship – two $1,000 academic scholarships awarded to students enrolled in a Business Administration program who have at least a 3.3 cumulative grade point average and are from the service area. Details are available from the Business Academic Area office.

William E. Faulk Intermediate Accounting Scholarship – a $200 per semester award to an accounting major at the intermediate level with a 3.5 (or above) grade point average. The student must also live in the service area and be enrolled for 6 or more credit hours.

Ernest & Donna Rae Gaunt Scholarship – A meritawarded scholarship of variable amount for a business student taking a minimum of one course who has a 2.5 grade point average.

Independent Accountants Association of Michigan Scholarship – preference for this scholarship will be given to those seeking a career in accounting who are IAAM members or employees of IAAM members. Additional requirements: part-time enrollment status and a 2.5 grade point average. Contact the IAAM for applications.

Keith MacPhee Memorial Scholarship – a $500 award for a student in any business program who is enrolled at least half time. Recipients must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average.

William C. Martino & Delrose Marlene Martino Scholarship Fund – awards of varying amounts for students in a Business Administration program who are Michigan residents.

Angela Nolf Scholarship – an award of $500 or more will be given to a second-year student in the Business Program who lives in the NMC six-county service area. Those eligible must complete an application offered through the Business academic area, have a 3.0 grade point average and demonstrate financial need.

Paron Financial Company Scholarship – criteria to be determined.

Glen P. and Anne Robinson Scholarship – a $1,000 award to a Grand Traverse County resident enrolled in either a Business or Technical program.

Art and Mary Schmuckal Endowment – numerous awards of up to $1,000 for part-time students and up to $2,500 for full-time students in Business Administration (Accounting, General Administration, Management, Marketing, or Computer Applications). Recipients must be enrolled at least half time and have a minimum 3.0 grade point average. Financial need will be considered if applicants are equally qualified.

Schmuckal Oil Scholarship – One $500 scholarship available to a business student demonstrating financial need from Antrim, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Leelanau, Wexford, Ottawa, Roscommon, Osceola or Missaukee county. Recipient must be enrolled part-time and have a grade point average of 2.5.

Carrie E. Smith Schuyler Scholarships – one award of variable amount to a female student in a Business program.

Mary Alice Strom-Zonta Club Scholarship – an approximately $1,000 award to a Grand Traverse area female student who is enrolled in a Business program.

Maureen Wolin Memorial Scholarship – a $250 to $500 award for a female student with a 3.0 grade point average who is enrolled in a Business academic area program.

Ann P. Zipser CPA Accounting Scholarship – $500 is awarded to a female part-time accounting student who demonstrates financial need and lives in the 6-county service area. A minimum grade point average of 3.0 is required.
