Fred Laughlin is Director of Northwestern Michigan College's Great Lakes Culinary Institute. Laughlin moved to Traverse City from Paul Smith’s College located in upstate New York, where he taught Culinary Arts.

Prior to teaching, Laughlin worked as a chef in Colorado, British Columbia, and Maine. He is registered as a Certified Culinary Educator by the American Culinary Federation.

In addition to his work at the College, Laughlin has provided cooking demonstrations at Hudson’s and for the Traverse Cooking Academy, and has been a guest faculty at the Birmingham College of Food in Birmingham, England.
