PLATO helps students refresh and upgrade skills in reading, writing, math, science, social studies, life skills, career skills, and ESOL/ESL. The program integrates with and supplements existing teaching methods, helping to:

  • Provide individualized instruction in all basic skills
  • Accurately assess skills and prescribe appropriate coursework
  • Offer instruction aligned to the ASSET, COMPASS, CPT, ACT Work Keys, AMES, and other state-mandated proficiency exams including the Texas Academic Skills Program (TASP)
  • Ensure mastery of each concept before a student progresses
  • Allow students to work in privacy, at their own pace
  • Boost student confidence and lower attrition
  • Prevent dropouts by providing a flexible, self-paced program
  • Offer convenient and flexible access through open-entry/open-exit programs
  • Quickly prepare students for success in for-credit classes
