This conference will explore the process of using critical thinking and problem solving to teach content through Foundational and Advanced Tracks; each Track has defined outcomes.

Foundational Track Participants:

  • Learn and apply basic theory of critical thinking in the classroom.
    • Teaching students to read critically
    • Energizing small group activities with critical thinking
    • Using questions to promote critical thinking
    • Teaching our core student constituency to think critically

Advanced Track Participants:

  • Learn advanced classroom teaching techniques
    • Designing assignments for critical thinking
    • Assessing student performance for critical thinking
    • Redesigning courses for critical thinking
    • Witnessing the transformative power of critical thinking in students' lives

Participant Outcomes in Both Tracks:

  • Network with colleagues
  • Participate in a number of sessions focusing on the uses of critical thinking for teaching and assessing student work
  • Choice of specific sessions on Friday morning

Who should attend: Occupational and Liberal Studies Faculty interested in enhancing Learning Through Critical Thinking.
