Funding for Adjunct Faculty Activities

The CIE Advisory Board has developed the following criteria to facilitate equitable funding of other than permanent full-time faculty.

CIE may fund up to $600 per fiscal year based on the following criteria:

  1. The adjunct faculty member is currently teaching an NMC credit course.
  2. The faculty member requesting funding completes the necessary forms.

For conference/travel, use the NMC Travel/Professional Development Request form found at the HR web site at www.nmc.edu/hr Click on the Faculty/Staff Information button along the top, choose Professional Development, click on Travel: Guidelines..etc., Click on the Travel Request form link (about ½ way down this page); you will have the option of choosing the form in template, WORD, or Adobe format.

For specific curriculum/instructional development projects, use the CIE Curriculum/ Instructional Development Funding Request form (located at Shared/CIE/Public/$Cur_DEV.REQ).

  1. The Academic Chair endorses the activity in writing, noting the subject area(s), number of students and faculty impacted, etc.
  2. The academic area deems the activity important enough to partially fund with money from its own professional development funds or the faculty bonus fund.
  3. The faculty member agrees to give a short, written (submitted electronically) report on the activity to CIE upon completion for distribution to interested colleagues and for possible publication in the CIE NEWSletter.

Should funds become limited due to higher than expected numbers of requests, the Board may limit funds awarded to disciplines that have received previous grants.
