Communications ScholarshipsErich Blough Scholarship – One scholarship awarded to a journalism, information technology or psychology student who is taking at least three credits. A minimum grade point average of 2.0 is required. Jaquish Journalism Scholarship – the recipient of this $500 scholarship will be an NMC student on the staff of the student newspaper who has a minimum grade point average of 2.0. Newspaper advisors will select the recipient each fall. Laura Olmstead Memorial Scholarship – modern language majors with a 3.0 grade point average and part-time enrollment status are eligible for this scholarship award of variable amount. Joseph (Joe) Noverr Scholarship – Awards of varying amounts for residents of Antrim, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, Leelanau, or Wexford counties who are pursuing a career in journalism. If qualified journalism students are not identified, secondary preference will be for students in the English program or Communications/Speech. Details are available in the Communications academic area office. Harry Oliver Theater Scholarship – Recipient must be enrolled in or have completed one or more NMC theater courses and be an active participant in NMC theater productions. Selection will be by a committee of Communications discipline faculty annually. Eligible students must be registered for 1 or more credits and have a minimum grade point average of 2.5.
