Capture the nautical feeling of lighthouses, historical barns, and even your own home with this watercolor workshop with artist, Carolyn Scott Risk. You will learn to paint a building in the landscape while exploring composition, color, and shapes as they flow to make a work of art. Whether you are a beginner or experienced, learn simple techniques to make your paintings more unique. Bring a photo of your favorite building—lighthouse, barn, or home. Stained Glass: A Hands-on Introduction
Discover the beauty of stained glass as you craft your own project. Beginning with a small project, you will learn basic techniques. With an emphasis on safety, learn to use glass cutters, grozing and breaking pliers, and the soldering iron. Gain experience in the use of foil, solder, and polish to give your piece that stunning finished look. The history and evolution of stained glass art will be discussed throughout. A list of items needed for class (approximate cost $100) will be mailed prior to class.

Stained Glass II: Copper Foil Technique
Build on your stained glass skills in this second-level course using the copper foil method. With guidance from your instructor, select a more challenging pattern, receive additional color-selection instruction, and refine your cutting and soldering skills. Framing options will be discussed and incorporated. Material costs vary and will be ordered at the first class (approx. $45). Stained glass tools required.

Stained Glass Lampshade

Introduction to Lampworking
Lampwork is the ancient technique of glass-bead making for jewelry. Discover basic safety rules sanctioned by the International Society of Glass Beadmakers. Explore the qualities of glass and how it reacts to heat and cold. Learn how to use a minor torch to melt glass, pull stringers and twisties and of course ….make beads! Glass Blowing and You
Get fired up! Experience the physical properties of molten glass using the flame working technique. Discover how to form objects from rods and tubes of glass using very strong Borosilicate glass (Pyrex). In these classes, you’ll develop an ongoing awareness of the safety issues in working with glass. All materials and supplies are provided. Class size is limited to six.
Beginning Marble Making
Explore this unique art form as you learn basic borosilicate marble-shaping techniques. Once you are comfortable with shaping, discover how to add color and pattern. No experience is necessary. You’ll create a few good marbles available for pick up the following day but there will plenty of “trial and error” marbles to enjoy as you learn to refine your skill.

Take your skills up a notch as you learn to encase and work borosilicate glass into pendants. Emphasis will be on the basics of holding color in the glass and shaping it using various tools. You will be able to pick up your creations the following day.

Advanced Project
Create a one of a kind work of art using borosilicate glass. In this hands-on class, manipulate glass and add colors to personalize your own project using previously learned skills. Shape the molten glass using graphite tools and a torch. You will be able to take home your creation the next day after it has been annealed in a glass working kiln.

Rag Rug Braiding
Learn a lost-art technique which is different from the rug braiding most are familiar with. Rather than sewing the braids together, each row is interbraided into the last, resulting in a strong, functional, beautiful rug that will carry on for generations. Learn to Sew!
Experience the enjoyment of creating with fabric while learning basic sewing skills. Learn to sew straight lines and curves, pivoting, and understanding what is meant by the pattern directions. We will start with the basics including tools and machine maintenance, complete a small project, then move to a project of your own choosing—many costing $20 or less—after receiving general guidelines. Bring your sewing machine, instruction manual, and all items that came with your machine. This class is for those 18 and older. Need a machine? Family Pottery Nights
Bring a family member or two for a few evenings of clay work. After learning some simple handbuilding techniques (not wheelwork), family members will be able to create several different pottery pieces.
