Beginning Yoga
This course provides a great overview of yoga—a holistic experience benefiting the body, mind, and spirit. The focus of the practice is to bring balance in all aspects of life. Learn basic concepts and techniques that you can incorporate into your life. Yoga reminds us that life is a stretch on all levels, and regular practice builds both inner and outer strength. Wear loose, comfortable clothing and bring a blanket.

Yoga—Beginning and Beyond
Yoga works through awareness of the body, teaching balance and integration. Discover tools for greater physical, mental, and spiritual well-being through principles of breath awareness and deep muscle stretching, strengthening, and relaxation. Sunrise Flow
An energetic “wake me, shake me” flow of yoga postures arranged in an intelligent sequence, transitioning from one to the next makes a beautiful practice. This morning flow of progressive movements steadily builds in intensity, creating strength and flexibility while quieting the mind. Learn to use the breath to maximize your potential on all levels. This class is for continuing yoga students and well-conditioned, athletic individuals.

Yoga for Teens
Is there a more challenging time of life than the teen years? From the perspective of rapid change physically, mentally, and emotionally, probably not. Yoga can address these issues with movement and relaxation designed to bring hormones into balance; clarity and sharpness to the mind; strength, coordination, and flexibility to the body; and most importantly, an appreciation and respect for your amazing body. No previous yoga experience is needed. Wear comfortable clothing.

Kundalini Yoga/Breath Class
This yoga technology is based on the teachings of Yogi Bhajan, synchronizing the breath with movement that literally opens tense areas of the body, clears the head, and gives an incredible overall body feeling of flexibility and resiliency. This form of yoga is great for boosting the immune system, working the endocrine system, and soothing the entire nervous system. It is a cardio intensive practice that detoxifies the body. Prerequisite is Beginning Yoga.

Yoga for Arthritis and Stiff Bodies
Come learn easy, helpful techniques of yoga for arthritis and general stiffness. In this session, arthritis will be looked at from the perspective of balancing the “energy body.” Aside from being helpful for those suffering from arthritis, those who are very stiff from athletics, constant travel, repetitive motion on the job, and high stress can benefit from this special therapeutic class. Wear comfortable clothing.

Yoga for Men
This course is an invigorating morning workout for both athletic and non-athletic men. Learn an exercise routine that will increase flexibility, improve strength and balance, and bring greater awareness of the body’s capabilities and limitations. Includes techniques for relaxing and calming the mind and utilizing the power of the breath. Participants should be in good physical health and capable of participating in strenuous activity.

Meditation: Beginning and Beyond
Part a healthy lifestyle, regular practice of meditation can reduce stress, improve health, boost the immune system, and balance emotions. Yoga II

Prerequisite: at least one semester of Yoga, and you should be currently practicing yoga. Wear loose clothing, and bring two blankets, a mat, and a bath towel.

Bikram Yoga
Joint offering with the Physical Education Area. The original Hot Yoga, 105 degrees, pure, powerful, authentic, unchanged, taught exactly as Hatha Yoga Master Bikram Choudhury intends it to be taught. Twenty-six poses, two breathing exercises, 90 minutes, plus heat. Meets on a flexible schedule for 10 weeks. There are 26 class meeting times throughout the week with morning, daytime, afternoon, evening, and weekend times to choose from. Call 392-4798 for details.
