Getting Started with Knitting
Don’t let knitting become a lost art! Learn the basic techniques to create interesting and practical pieces. You will be introduced to the essentials with plenty of opportunity to practice—cast on, knit and purl, rib, and bind off as well as routine trouble shooting skills. Practice yarn will be provided. Bring to class: a pair of size 8 knitting needles (10-inch), medium crochet hook, small scissors, and 6-inch ruler or measuring device.

Scandinavian Knitting—Holiday Projects
Christmas stockings, hats, scarves—add colorful, bold patterns to special projects for the season. Learn techniques for working with several colors at the same time to create designs that look like they belong in northern Michigan. You’ll begin with a practice piece (materials provided) and progress to a project of your own (you provide materials). Some knitting experience required. Kris is a local and national freelance writer and founder of Stage Door Productions.
