LIFE Lunch Fall Series
Biking across Africa and a sonar exploration of the bottom of the bays provide fascinating insights into this amazing planet. Meet an adventurer and a water researcher as you broaden your view of the world, meet new people, and enjoy a buffet lunch. If you prefer, bring a brown bag lunch—beverages provided.

An African Bike Adventure

Take a bike trip across Africa with adventurer and anthropology/sociology professor, Kerri Finlayson. She’s skied to the North Pole, hiked Mt. Kilamanjaro, and most recently completed a 4-month, 7,000 mile trip from Cairo, Egypt to Capetown, South Africa. Your armchair trip provides new perspective on this amazing continent.

What lies beneath the surface of that expansive blue waterscape that shapes our city and region? Join Hans VanSumeren, Director of NMC’s Water Studies Program, as he highlights the summer 2009 sonar investigation on both bays using equipment onboard the NMC vessel, The Northwestern. From interesting habitat to sunken ships, get a new and in-depth view of the dark and deep.
