- Guidelines for using Small Groups
Groups can be instrumental in most instructional settings:
traditional classrooms or distance education. They foster collaborative
learning, problem-solving skills and team skills. But, many students
do not come prepared with good team skills, and there can be problems
in implementing groups and getting them to work the way you want. Check

Technology Training
The FLO Office is a great place to go for assistance in learning
new technologies, from using the eLearning system or taking
an online training course to one-on-one help with a software application
such as Adobe Acrobat or Microsoft Office products.
There is even a work place for instructors to use in the FLO office that
has many application and resources available for use--from scanners to
Macintosh and Windows PC computers. Any instructor who wishes to get
away from the office or to be near a FLO staff person for quick assistance
if needed, contact the Technology Help Desk /
(231) 995-3020 or stop by the office to see if it is available at a time
that
fits your schedule.
Multimedia and Course Web Development
The FLO Office in conjunction with other technology support areas
at NMC have resources and skilled personnel available to assist you in
researching, using, and developing multimedia and web applications
to enhance learning.
These
can range from using PowerPoint presentations to elaborate interactive,
learning modules that incorporate screen captures, audio and video clips,
and more. Contact
the Technology Help Desk at
(231) 995-3020 or Lauren Keinath directly
at (231) 995-1123 to discuss ideas you'd like to explore or needs you may
have.
