Recording
Services
- What digital audio and video services do we support?
Educational Media Technologies is beginning to offer a variety
of support options for recording and digitizing audio, computer, and
video files for educational support. If you have an interest in having
media recorded and/or digitized for CD, DVD, and/or Web distribution,
contact the Media Coordinator (995-1078) or the FLO
HelpDesk (995-1965).
- What is off-air, cable and satellite recording?
Copyright law allows educational institutions to record television
and satellite broadcast transmissions. However, there are certain restricts
on the use:
- During the first ten days from broadcast the recording may
be used in the
classroom.
- The program may be retained an additional 35 days for faculty
evaluation only and then must be erased.
- For more details, read Item
4: Rules for Recording and Showing Television Programs in
the Stanford University Library's information on Educational
Copyright.
- Should the recording prove to be a useful resource
for the classroom,
Educational Media Technologies can petition for an off-air
recording license or locate a distributor.
Note: Not all
programming is
available for this "off-air" license.
- How do I request a program to be recorded?
Prior to air date, contact the Educational Media Technologies
Office at 995-1070 or email Media Requests (MediaRequests@nmc.edu)
with programming information, date, time, channel, etc.
