How to Apply for Financial Aid

In order to receive
any Financial Aid through Northwestern Michigan College (NMC), a
student must meet the general eligibility requirements listed here:
- In order to be considered for financial aid, you must be admitted
and enrolled in a program of study leading to a degree or certificate
at NMC.

- The Financial aid office must also have access to your completed
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
- The student must be a citizen or eligible non-citizen.
- The student must have a valid Social Security Number.
- Refer to the Social Security Admin. if you don't have a number
or to find out more about applying for one. -- www.ssa.gov
- The student must be making Satisfactory Academic
Progress (SAP).
- The student must NOT be in default on a federal student loan or owe
a repayment of any Title IV grant.
- The student must be registered with the Selective Service, if required.
- Refer to the Selective Service web site if you are a male 18-25
years of age and you have not yet registered with Selective Service,
or you may give Selective Service permission to register you
by checking a box on the FAFSA form. -- www.sss.gov
- The student must have a high school diploma or General Education
Development (GED) Certificate.
