Technical Scholarships

Dale Anderson Memorial Scholarship – an award of varying amount made to support students in the technical discipline with a 2.0 grade point average or higher. Demonstration of financial need is required as well as U.S. citizenship. In addition, applicants must be enrolled for six or more credit hours. Otto and Kathy Belovich Automotive Scholarship– $500 awarded to a student from the NMC service area with a 2.5 minimum grade point average. Recipients have to be committed to careers in the automotive business. Preference will be given to applicants currently employed at Cherry Capital or Traverse Motors. Erich Blough Scholarship– One scholarship awarded to a journalism, information technology or psychology student who is taking at least three credits. A minimum grade point average of 2.0 is required.

Gary L. Clark Machine Tool Scholarship – Preference will be given to those enrolled in NMC’s machine tool program; secondary preference will be given to students in the manufacturing technology program. There is no grade point requirement, but recipients must demonstrate financial need and be enrolled part-time at NMC.

Wayne G. Cowell Memorial Scholarship – an award of varying amount to a student in any Technical program who resides within the six-county service area and has at least a 3.0 grade point average. Financial need is considered if applicants are equally qualified.

Exchange Club of Traverse City Scholarship – four $360 scholarships awarded to second-year students from the service area who have a minimum 2.0 grade point average. One scholarship each is awarded to vocational/technical, allied health, liberal arts and Great Lakes Maritime Academy students.

William Kiker Memorial Scholarship – a $250 award for a student in the Electronics program with a 2.0 grade point average who demonstrates financial need.

Glen P. and Anne Robinson Scholarship – a $1,000 award to a Grand Traverse County resident enrolled in either a Business or Technical program.

RM Young Company Technical Scholarship – preference will be given to a successful NMC student pursuing Manufacturing Technology, other technical track, or Engineering. Part-time enrollment status, a 3.0 grade point average, and residency in the six-county NMC service area are also required. Financial need will be considered for equally qualified candidates.

Frank and Dorothy Stulen Technical Scholar Award – A variable number of awards will be given to support students in technical studies. Funds may be used for tuition, fees, books, required professional tools/materials, or for attendance at student professional development meetings.

Technical Careers Scholarships – awards of varying amounts for full-time and part-time students in any technical program. Eligible recipients must complete an application, have a 3.0 grade point average in tech coursework, and be a resident of the NMC 6-county service area.
