I'm Registered for an Online Class,
What's Next ?

woman at computer After you are registered for an online class at NMC, you may want to get started right away. A few instructors may allow early entry into their online class, but almost all become available only 5 days prior to the start of the session. Although you can't get into the online class area itself, you still can become more familiar with the online environment.

Before the start date of the class session:

  • Have you taken the Readiness Assessments? If not, it is recommended that you do so to make sure you understand what online learning entails.
  • Have you reviewed the online course details in the FLO Course Catalog? Can you meet those requirements? If you are unsure, contact the instructor or your advisor, or see if you can still take another class instead that does work for you.
  • Are you familiar with NMC eLearning (Moodle)? If not, check it out, enroll into the short eLearning Course: Moodle 101.

What Are the "Important Dates" to Remember?

  • One to two weeks prior to the session start date
You will receive an e-mail--sent to your NMC student assigned MBX e-mail account--or a post card directing you to check out your course information. This directs you to the FLO Course Catalog to find your online course(s) and review the details and syllabus. Specific instructions will be available per your instructor. If you do not find a link to a syllabus or are unsure about anything, contact your instructor. If an instructor is yet to be assigned, or you can't locate your instructor, contact the Help Desk.

  • Five days before the session start date
The Flexible Learning Options Office places students into the NMC eLearning (Moodle) class areas. If the instructor has allowed students to enter at that time, you will see your class listed under "My Courses" after you log into the eLearning (Moodle) system (See How to Access NMC eLearning). Not all instructors allow students to enter at this time, but most do!

  • Start of the session--Begin your course work!!!
If you log into NMC eLearning and do not see your online course(s) listed under the "My Courses" area, contact the Help Desk.

  • College-Wide Important Dates
Check the Academic Calendar for important college-wide dates (e.g. semester start/end dates, breaks, holidays, and more).

  • Class Specific Due Dates
Check the Syllabus and/or Schedule for your class. This may not be available for you to see until the start of the semester.
