ADN Admission Requirements
- Application Deadlines — The ADN program has
2 entry opportunities: Fall or Spring
Admission is on a "rolling basis" which means that admission is
considered at any time prior to final registration pending completion of
all requirements as listed and space availability.
- Application, ASSET or COMPASS test scores, and all supporting documentation
must be on file before eligibility can be determined. This includes
submission of both official high school and college transcripts.
- Current NMC students must submit the "ADN Notification Form" to
the Admission's Office indicating which semester they are applying
to enter the ADN program. Notification Forms are available in 3 different
campus offices: Admission's Office, Counseling Center, and the Health
Occupations academic office.
- GPA Requirements — High School GPA = 3.0 or College
GPA = to 2.5
- GPAs are re-computed to include academic classes only. Courses
such as choir, PE, typing, or pottery are not considered in the GPA
computation.
- Must complete either the COMPASS, or ACT Tests requirements
- COMPASS Test score requirements.
- ACT of 19 for Reading and Writing
ACT of 24 on Math part of ACT
- Courses required for admission consideration
- **CHM 101 - Intro to Chemistry with a minimum grade of 2.0.
Students with 2 semesters of high school chemistry with a 2.5 or better or with college Chemistry that is older than 5 years may meet the CHM 101 requirement by passing the Chemistry Department competency exam.
- **BIO 227 — Anatomy and Physiology I — 2.5 required.
Must be taken within the last 5 years.
If A&P is older than 5 yrs., students may retake BIO 227 & BIO
228 or successfully complete a competency exam. Transfer students must have competed course work equivalent to BIO 227, BIO 228 and BIO 208 (Microbiology) with 2.5 or better within the last 5 years before transfer credit will be considered.
- **ENG 111 — English Composition — 2.0 required
- **PSY 101 — Intro to Psychology — 2.0 required
- Courses recommended to be completed prior to starting the
ADN program.
- **BIO 228 - Anatomy and Physiology II - 2.5 required
Should course scheduling permit,
BIO 228 could be taken concurrently with HNR 101 and 102. See
a counselor or advisor for details.
- **BIO 240 - Clinical Nutrition - 3 credits/3.0 contacts
BIO 240 is a pre-requisite for 200
level nursing.
- CPR (Professional Red Cross or AHA Health Care Provider) — Recommended
to be completed prior to admission or taken as a co-requisite
with HNR 102 within the first five weeks of HNR 102. (Available
at NMC-HPD 120)
- Other courses required for the ADN program.
(While these courses could be taken after
entering the ADN program, the majority of the pre-nursing students
prefer to take these courses prior to starting the nursing program.)
