Employee RecognitionEMPLOYEE OF THE SEMESTER – SPRING 2006 As a Bridge instructor, Dave's passion and compassion are evident in the classroom as he teaches to students with a very wide range of abilities. Dave is able to reassure students who are unsure of their place in the college and in society with their current skills and abilities, and encourages students to develop and use these skills and abilities. Dave exemplifies the trust and integrity that he expects from students. Often students that enter the Bridge program have had to deal with very difficult issues in the past, and are wary of whom they feel they can trust. The goal of all the Bridge faculty and staff is to prepare the students for the rigors of college, as well as working within the systems that make up our community and our society. Dave is an integral part of that process. Dave has developed and maintained a variety of credit courses that provide professional development for individuals who need specific occupational skills, including Microsoft Certification courses, with a continued increase enrollment each year. Dave oversees the M-TEC Learning Center and is responsible for staffing the center. He hires student employees to work in the center, allowing them to an opportunity to share what they have learned with fellow students and gain work experience. In the M-TEC Learning Center, Dave also assists students with questions over a wide variety of courses, while maintaining a well-equipped computer lab that creates an inviting work environment conducive to learning. Dave makes every effort to make the learning experience a positive one for students. For being selected as the Employee of the Semester, Dave will receive
a framed certificate acknowledging his selection, a $25 gift certificate
to a local restaurant, and a choice of a day off or a reserved parking
spot for the Spring Semester.
