Non-Returning Student Survey

Highlight Results 2008

**NEW**

The purpose of the survey was to ascertain the reasons for why a student did not return to NMC. These results will help NMC determine ways in which it can improve services and offerings in order to increase retention.

Accomplishing an educational goal was the most frequent reason given for why someone did not return to NMC (30%). Financial concerns were the second most frequent reason given. A third of the respondents said they could not afford the tuition. Another 25% said their work schedule conflicted with taking classes. Leavers had multiple reasons for not coming back to NMC.

Of the reasons that mattered, the most impactful to a respondent’s decision to not re-enroll was that he had moved away from the area. The second most impactful reason was achievement of one’s educational goal. These results are similar to the results from the 2004 Non-returning Student Survey.
