Great Lakes Nautical Charts -- Maps used
for navigation at sea, also known as United States Coast Surveys. A
chart shows water depth, but only enough land features for orientation.
Listed individually in the Osterlin Library Online Catalog WebCat,
and filed in the map drawers by the Superintendent of Documents Number.
The library's collection of nautical charts are not intended for navigational
purposes.
National Geographic Maps -- As collected
from inclusion in the National Geographic Magazine. A scattered collection,
filed by geographic or subject area.
Recreational charts -- A series of nautical
charts pertinent to a specific geographic area. Collection includes
recreation charts for Michigan and Wisconsin. Listed in the library's
online book catalog.
State, Country, and World Maps -- A miscellaneous
collection. Filed in map drawers by geographic area.
Topographic Maps -- Portraying the physical
features of a geographical area. Filed alphabetically by place name.
Library collection includes most of Northern Michigan and the Upper
Peninsula, plus a few for Wisconsin. Most are large-scale 7.5 minute
quadrangles (1:24,000), produced by the United State Geological Survey.
