The NMC Archives

The NMC Archives, located downstairs in the Mark and Helen Osterlin Library on the main campus of NMC, helps preserve the history of the college through the organization and preservation of print documents, graphics, and artifacts. Photographs, yearbooks, minutes, memorabilia, oral histories, and much more, are available for research. Much of the material has been catalogued and may be searched for availability using the Osterlin Library's Online Catalog (iLink). However, since this is a non-circulating collection, materials can be viewed in the reading areas of the library only. Mission & Scope of the Collection

The Northwestern Michigan College Archives is charged with the responsibility of appraising, collecting, organizing, describing, preserving, and making available for research and reference use those official College records and those ancillary records of the College community of sufficient historical, legal, fiscal, and/or administrative value to warrant permanent preservation.

The Northwestern Michigan College Archives strives to provide adequate facilities for the retention and preservation of official college records and to promote knowledge and understanding of the origins, aims, programs, and goals of the College. It provides information services that will assist the operation of the College in addition to serving research and scholarship by making available and encouraging use of its collection by members of the College and the community at large.
