Financial Aid

Great Lakes Maritime Academy and Ferris State University subscribe to the policy that paying for college is a shared responsibility. Education costs are expected to be shared among three sources; the cadet, family, and Ferris State University administered financial aid. Financial aid is available through scholarships, grants, and loans. For more information on financial aid, contact the Ferris State University Financial Aid Office at 231-591-2112. You may complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid form online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.The four-year Bachelor's degree program requires both 002260 (FSU) and 002302 (Maritime/Northwestern Michigan College) school code. Those entering with a Bachelor's degree are only required to enter the 002302 (Maritime/Northwestern Michigan College) school code.

Residence Halls and Apartments

Residence Halls and apartments are located on the campus of Northwestern Michigan College. Cadets can easily walk to the Maritime campus. A housing deposit is required and must be submitted with residence hall and apartment applications. Housing charges may be paid in advance for the full academic year or by the semester, according to the payment schedule on the reservation forms. Current room and board rates are available by contacting the NMC Student Life Office at 800-748-0566, Ext.1400 or (231) 995-1400.

Financial and Other Obligations

Transcripts and other records will be withheld for any maritime cadet that has not met all financial and personal obligations (overdue library books, housing damages, unpaid tuition, etc.) to the college. Cadets will not be allowed to register until all financial obligations are paid.
