  • Maritime college provides a professional training environment with hands-on career skills needed for a career in Marine Transportation.
  • Graduates write USCG Merchant Marine Officer License as Third Mate Great Lakes and Oceans, First Class Great Lakes Pilot or Third Assistant Engineer and are fully compliant with (STCW '95).
  • Graduates earn a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration.
  • Sea Project time accumulated aboard commercial ships of the Great Lakes and Oceans in addition to T/S State of Michigan.
  • Core Maritime curriculum offered for those entering the Academy with a Bachelor's Degree. MBA degree also available.
  • A beautiful Maritime Campus and Harbor facilities on Lake Michigan's Grand Traverse Bay with four season recreational opportunities.
  • The T/S State of Michigan, 225' of floating classroom and laboratory is utilized by cadets, faculty, staff and guests year around.
  • Maritime tuition is affordable with little penalty for out-of-state cadets. All cadets receive in-state tuition for all Business Administration classes.
  • Low student to faculty ratio. All faculty are licensed Merchant Marine Officers at the Academy.
