- Five individuals receive NMC's highest honor
The Northwestern Michigan College Board of Trustees has conferred the college's highest honor on Jean C. Howard, Ted and Phyllis Kidd and D. Jerome and Margery Slack. Each has been named an "NMC Fellow."

- NMC to save taxpayers money on debt refinancing
The Northwestern Michigan College Board of Trustees has approved a plan to refinance debt that is expected to save taxpayers more than $386,000.

- New hours, admission fees at The Dennos begin July 1
New hours of operation and admission fees go into effect July 1 at Northwestern Michigan College's Dennos Museum Center. The Dennos will add Thursday evening hours beginning July 2 and individual admission fees will rise $2 per person.

- NMC Fly-In, Air Show Open House July 3
Featuring aircraft from the National Cherry Festival Air Show, Northwestern Michigan College's fifth annual Fly-In will be held from 3-8 p.m. Friday, July 3 at the aviation hangar on NMC's Aero Park Campus, 2550 Aero Park Drive.

- Free NMC summer band concert continues July 6 at National Cherry Festival
Northwestern Michigan College's Community Concert Band will kick off its annual series of free outdoor band concerts June 25 at the Music House Museum. The public is invited to bring a lawn chair and join the band for four toe-tapping evenings celebrating the music of America:

- New NMC Freshwater Studies degree is first of its kind
The Water Studies Institute at Northwestern Michigan College has announced the launch of the first Associate in Science and Arts Degree for Freshwater Studies in the United States. Enrollment is now underway for the 2009 fall semester.

- CARBON: The Cosmic Worlds of Charles Lindsay comes to the Dennos
CARBON is an installation of large scale photographs most of which will cover the entire gallery walls. They evolved, in part, from Lindsay's underwater explorations in UPSTREAM a photo exhibition on fly fishing by Charles Lindsay being shown at the museum simultaneously with CARBON.

- UPSTREAM: Fly Fishing in the American West exhibition comes to the Dennos
UPSTREAM features 25 large format black and white photographs (40" x 40") by noted photographer Charles Lindsay done for a book of the same title with author Tom McGuane.

- NMC Bridge program receives Three Generations grant
Bridge program students at Northwestern Michigan College will again have the opportunity to receive scholarships next year through a $3,500 grant from Three Generations Circle of Women Givers.

- NMC Foundation announces BBQ scholarship winner
Melinda Burnias of Lake Leelanau won the special scholarship awarded by the Northwestern Michigan College Foundation in conjunction with the 54th NMC Barbecue. Burnias said she plans to give the scholarship to her daughter, who is no stranger to NMC.
