NMC Children's Choir concert set for Feb. 15

TRAVERSE CITY, MI –  The Northwestern Michigan Children’s Choir will present a concert of folk arrangements, classics and contemporary compositions at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 15 at Lars Hockstad Auditorium in Central Grade School. The concert will feature the Treble, Advanced, Chamber and Concert choirs under the direction of Mark and Barbara Puchala, David and Mary Parrish and Stephanie Schall-Brazee.

The concert will also feature two solo instrumentalists:

  • Douglas Stewart, oboist – Currently in his sixth season as principal oboist with the Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra, as a freelance musician, Stewart played regularly with orchestras in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., Toledo, Ohio and a variety of Michigan venues.
  • Suzanne Parker, flutist - Second flutist of the Traverse Symphony Orchestra for 17 years, she has continued as a freelance musician in the Grand Traverse area, where she is also employed as a speech/language pathologist with the Traverse Bay Area Intermediate School District.

General admission is $8. Seniors ages 62 and older and children ages 12 and younger are $6. Tickets will be available at Lars Hockstad Auditorium on the evening of the concert.

The Northwestern Michigan College Children’s Choir involves about 200 second through ninth grade students from around the Grand Traverse region.
