Harpist Isabelle Perrin performs July 11 at NMCTRAVERSE CITY, MI – Northwestern Michigan College’s music department will present a recital by internationally-renowned French harpist Isabelle Perrin at 8 p.m. July 11 in Milliken Auditorium. The recital will conclude a weeklong workshop for students of the harp on the NMC campus. As soloist, Perrin will perform with advanced harp students from across the country, playing a variety of solo and concerto selections accompanied by French pianist Damien Luce. The exceptionally talented students represent some of the finest among America’s music conservatories, including the Eastman School of Music, the Curtis Institute, the University of Michigan, Arizona State University, Brigham Young University and the Ecole Normale in Paris, where Perrin is professor of harp. They are expected to include two local harpists, Marta Power and Marielle Smith, who studied in Paris with Perrin. Both are former students of Traverse City harpist Sylvia Norris, who initiated the harp workshop six years ago. An international soloist, Perrin is regularly invited to play with many prestigious orchestras and tours in the United States, Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia. In addition to her teaching, she is co-principal harpist with L’Orchestre Nationale Radio France. Among other accomplishments, she is the youngest person ever in France to receive a teacher’s certification on the harp. She was recently knighted by the French order of Arts and Letters for her accomplishments as an international ambassador of the arts. Tickets are available in advance at www.dennosmuseum.org and at the Dennos Museum Center box office on the campus of Northwestern Michigan College on the day of the event. Adult ticket prices are $12. Student ticket prices are $8. For additional information about Perrin, visit www.nmc.edu/music and click on the performances link. # # #
