NMC Concert Band presents "Celebrations" November 21

TRAVERSE CITY, MI – Northwestern Michigan College’s Community Concert Band will present a performance of “Celebrations” at 8 p.m. Friday, November 21, in Milliken Auditorium.

Under the direction of conductor John Beery, the band will perform works by Bach, Delibes, Frescobaldi, Humperdinck, Reed, Straus and Sousa.

In tune with the upcoming season of celebrations, the program will include:

  • Festival Prelude — Alfred Reed
  • March and Procession of Bacchus — Leo Delibes
  • Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring — Johann Sebastian Bach
  • Toccata — Girolamo Frescobaldi
  • Allerseelen — Richard Strauss
  • Alleluia, Laudamus Te — Alfred Reed
  • Washington Post March — John Philip Sousa
  • Prayer and Dream Pantomime from "Hansel and Gretel" — Engelbert Humperdinck

The NMC Community Concert Band was formed in 1973 and totals more than 50 members. It is comprised of talented high school and college students learning alongside experienced amateur and professional musicians. The band is a member of the Association of Concert Bands.  For information on joining the band, contact Mr. Beery at 231.276.4661.
