Traverse City: Experience 'gypsy jazz' as you've never heard it before! "When you come to see the John Jorgenson Quintet, please fit your lower jaw with some type of halter," says John Sheffler, Host and Producer of Our Front Porch. "When John and the Quintet played here in Mt. Pleasant, I saw more jaws hitting the floor than any other group that I've ever worked with."

John JorgensonBorn to an orchestra conductor and piano instructor, Jorgenson was surrounded by music from birth. At five, he learned to play piano, clarinet by age eight and began his mastery of guitar at age 12 - this is when his true love affair with music started.

Jorgenson has been coined 'The Master of Gypsy Jazz Guitar' in style of Django Reinhart. Reinhart is one of the first prominent jazz musicians born in Europe and one of the most renowned jazz guitarists of all time.

John Jorgenson brings his own flair to the stage with exciting new compositions, amazing fretwork and searing clarinet playing supported by some of the best musicians in the world.

"John is an amazing guitarist and he has surrounded himself with some incredible musicians," Sheffler adds. "The gasps that you'll hear as a member of the audience aren't gasps of pain - but sheer amazement and surprise at the speed and accuracy with which they play."

John Jorgenson brings all of his musical creativity and experience to bear in the John Jorgenson Quintet, and the result is astounding audiences everywhere! The quintet includes Gonzalo Bergara, an Argentinean who has studied both blues and gypsy jazz, on rhythm guitar. Stephan Dudash provides guitar, congas, mandolin and the 5-string viola for the group. Charlie Chadwick, one of Nashville's most prominent musicians and producers, plays bass in the band. Cesare Valbusa, hailing from Italy, is the group's percussionist.

Don't miss your opportunity for a truly world class gypsy jazz experience. The high energy "John Jorgenson Quintet" will perform at The Dennos Museum Center's Milliken Auditorium in Traverse City on Saturday, April 26 at 8:00 p.m. - presented by CMU Public Radio's Our Front Porch and the Dennos Museum Center and co-sponsored by Cramer Rosenthal McGlynn.
