Docents Opportunities at the Dennos Museum Center

Traverse City: The Dennos Museum Center is seeking flexible and enthusiastic volunteers to join our docent program. Docents are vital museum volunteers that engage preschool and K-12 students, NMC Students and the general public in discussions about the Museum’s permanent collection and changing exhibitions during Museum tours. During the 2007-2008 school year volunteer docents led over 90 tours and served over 3,500 visitors in our active tour program. Guided by the Curator of Education and Interpretation, docents train weekly and explore the who, what, where, when, how, and why of the visual arts and sciences. Docent use this training as they give weekly tours September through June. Training for new recruits begins this September. Please contact the Curator of Education and Interpretation at (231) 995-1029 to apply.

The Dennos Museum Center is open daily 10 AM to 5 PM and Sundays 1-5 PM. Admission is $4.00 adults, $2.00 for children and free to museum members. For more information on the Museum and exhibition, go to www.dennosmuseum.org or call 231-995-1055. The Dennos Museum Center is located at 1701 East Front Street, Traverse City, MI 49686, at the entrance to the campus of Northwestern Michigan College.
