NASA ambassador to lead doomsday discussion Aug. 8TRAVERSE CITY, MI – Astronomer and NASA ambassador Michael Foerster will lead an “out of this world” exploration of what-ifs at an Aug. 8 summer LIFE Lunch Forum sponsored by Northwestern Michigan College’s Extended Education division. Participants in “What If? Astronomical doomsday scenarios” will consider questions like:
Look at astronomical doomsday scenarios, implications for humanity and life, and the probability of such events. Examine the death of stars including our own sun and investigate the possibility that a large object could make a "deep impact" on the earth. How will the Earth end? Enjoy a picnic-fare buffet lunch before this edge-of-the-seat experience. “What if?” will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8. The $25 fee includes a buffet lunch and materials.
