NMC Concert Band celebrates 35 years

TRAVERSE CITY — NMC performance ensembles will present two upcoming concerts:

“Night and the Celestial Light” - 7:30 p.m. April 25, Milliken Auditorium
Presented by NMC Grand Traverse Chorale, and NMC Chamber Singers. Join the NMC Choirs for an evening of music for voice and strings. Music will include Morten Lauridson’s “Lux Aeterna,” and the works of Johannes Brahms, Eric Whitacre, Samuel Barber, and others. 

NMC Concert Band 35th anniversary concert -7:30 p.m. April 29, Milliken Auditorium 

Dating to 1968, the band officially became part of the college in 1979, Now under the baton of Patricia Brumbaugh, the Concert Band includes 65 members ranging from teenagers to 90-somethings. Former conductors Walter Ross, Michael Eagan, John Beery and Tom Riccobono will all participate in the anniverary show featuring uplifting and nostalgic arrangements for band by J. Fucik, Clare Grundman, Ralph V. Williams, and F. Tichel.

Tickets for both concerts are $10 for adults, and $5 for seniors (ages 62 and older) and children (ages 12 and younger). Admission for NMC students with Student ID is free. Call the Milliken box office at (231) 995-1553 for more information.
