Learning Opportunities
The Cadillac Campus has been permanently closed. NMC Board of Trustees Approves Changes In Cadillac CampusAt their regular monthly meeting (12-15-03), the Board of Trustees of Northwestern Michigan College approved the repositioning of learning in Cadillac, effective Fall 2004. Face-to-face classes will be discontinued at that time and the college will offer on-line delivery of a complete Associate in Science and Arts degree. The NMC Training and Research unit will continue to offer business contract training in the Cadillac area on-site and in person. "Because of declining enrollments in Cadillac and reductions in State funding, we needed to recommend a repositioning of service delivery to Wexford County," NMC President Timothy Nelson said. NMC has been offering classes in Cadillac since 1987 when the Cadillac Area Chamber of Commerce invited the college to fill a role vacated by Kirtland Community College. Initially, enrollments were sufficient to maintain a presence in Cadillac, but recent semesters have shown a significant decline. "An advising team has been created," NMC Vice President for Educational Services Stephen Siciliano said, "and all NMC Cadillac students will have an opportunity to receive advising in December or January to plan their courses for spring and fall."
