Enrollment Observations for Spring 2006

Enrollment headcount went down by 1.78 percent from 4222 to 4147 for only the second time in ten years. Credit Hours are up 0.82 percent and Contact Hours are up 0.97 percent. Tuition is up 8 percent. Newly admitted student headcount is up two percent, and the percentage of those newly admitted students registered held steady from Spring 2005. Prior admits (those who were not registered the immediate past semester) is up 18 percent, retained students from Fall 2005 is down one percent. The Returning Students (those not attending the past two semesters) is down nine percent.

The divisions with the largest increases in Credit Hours are Maritime with 19 percent and the Business Division with six percent. The largest decreases were in the Aviation program with a 21.1 percent decrease and Technical had a decrease of 14.3 percent. The total for all Divisions was an increase in credit hours of 0.9 percent.*
