Enrollment Observations for Summer 2006
The Report Day, June 19, Summer 2006 Enrollment went down nine percent from 1,497 enrolled students for Summer 2005 to 1,356 students enrolled this summer. (Summer 2005 showed an increase of nine percent.) Financial Aid Recipients (those who qualify for the year) increased four percent from 3,603 to 3,760; Credit Hours decreased eight percent from 7,177 to 6,588 and Contact Hours decreased seven percent from 7,512 to 6,965. Tuition increased two percent, although fees decreased six percent as tuition was raised from last year but fees were not.
Other Highlights:
- Guest Students have decreased thirty-one percent from 157 in 2005 to 108 this summer
- Full-time students have decreased by 29 percent from 37 to 26 and part-time students taking 1-5 credits decreased twelve percent from 989 to 865
- The Age Range of 31-35 had the largest decrease, 143 to 97, a decrease of 32 percent
- Other Counties outside Grand Traverse, yet in-state, decreased five percent from 633 to 601
- Grand Traverse County decreased fourteen percent from 805 to 689
- Internet registrations have not increased but students using walk-in registrations dropped by 40 percent. One-forth of the students use both web and walk-in registration
- Only one discipline, Science/Math, had an increase in credit hours, just under one percent
