Engineering 2+2 Program
NMC has 2+2 engineering articulation agreements with Lake
Superior State University, Kettering
University, and Michigan
Technological University. The most popular of these is
the agreement with Michigan Technological University.
The engineering 2+2 Northwestern Michigan College/Michigan
Technological University program was designed to facilitate
the transfer of students from NMC's engineering program to
MTU's College of Engineering. The student typically enters
NMC with engineering designated as their choice of major.
Applications for the 2+2 program are solicited from interested
students and are reviewed by members of the science/math division.
Admittance criteria include successful performance (usually
2.5 - 3.0 GPA) in the core classes including math, engineering,
physics and chemistry.
Once admitted to the 2+2 program the student is guaranteed
admission to MTU in the engineering major of their choice
as a junior. Advisors from MTU's admission office travel to
NMC each fall to meet with the students who will be attending
MTU the following fall. They return to NMC in March to enroll
the students in the fall classes at MTU. All indications are
that students who go through the 2+2 program do very well
both at MTU and at their career after college. The MTU engineering
majors included in the 2+2 agreement include: Chemical Engineering,
Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Engineering,
Geological Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical
Engineering, Mining Engineering, and Computer Engineering.

from four year institutions.
