abacusTI-83 calculator Welcome to the NMC Math Academic Department Home Page!  These links will take you on a tour to meet our math faculty, visit our math classes and learn a little more about Math at NMC. Our Math Department is made up of 8 full-time and typically 10-15 adjunct instructors, with one full-time instructor serving as Department Chair. The current Math Department Chair is Instructor Deb Pharo.

NMC's Math Department offers 3 levels of developmental math courses (pre, beginning, and intermediate level algebra) to assist students in the transition phase from grade school math to higher education math. NMC offers the COMPASS test, a placement exam in order to aid students in choosing their first math course. Your math career at NMC can then go on to college level algebra, through calculus, all the way up to differential equations. NMC also offers two levels of a course designed for student wishing to pursue a career as an elementary school math teacher. Click on the course information link on the for more details.

And then there is the poetry of math. Click here to read how one of our very own students used poetry to express her feelings about math...
