- Provider: Systems & LAN Management (SLM)
- E-mail format: userid@message.nmc.edu
- Web login: groupwise.nmc.edu
- This is the primary e-mail service for full-time faculty and staff at NMC. Part-time faculty and staff must place a request with the ITS Office Manager (995-1044) to have an account created.
Departmental Web Site E-mail
- Provider: Systems & LAN Management (SLM)
- E-mail format: userid@mbx.nmc.edu
- Web login: mbx.nmc.edu
- SLM provides this service through the Novell MBX mail system, the same system used by students. A department may carefully share the userid/login among key employees to ensure full-time coverage. Departments may also request an alias that is specific to their department's name, e.g., "financialaid@nmc.edu"
Aliases
- Provider: Information Techology Services (ITS)
- E-mail format: userid@nmc.edu (without either "message" or "mbx" in front of "nmc.edu")
- This service is not available to students. ITS provides this service to faculty, staff, and departments.
Technically, an alias does not exist as an e-mail account; rather, the e-mail system intercepts anything sent to or from an alias, and directs it to the correct e-mail account, e.g., userid@message.nmc.edu or userid@mbx.nmc.edu. Neither the sender nor the recipient ever sees the "message" or "mbx" part, thus simplying the addresses to a common and consistent domain.
Check with the ITS Office Manager at 995-1044 to see if an alias exists for your Groupwise or MBX departmental account, or to have one created.
