Academic Advising

We provide academic advising services throughout your educational journey, and encourage you to stay connected with an advisor throughout your time at NMC to ensure that you are on the right track.

Counselors provide assistance with course and program selection as they relate to your academic ability and objectives. Faculty academic advisors are partners in this effort, advising students in their area of expertise.

New students

New students meet with an advisor during orientation, and are required to meet with an academic advisor again during your first semester to review career options, transfer possibilities and course selections.

Transfer students

If you're planning to transfer to a four-year university in Michigan, we have an extensive online transfer guide. If a transfer guide does not exist for a specific school or program, we will help you select appropriate courses.

We also recommend that you personally contact the transfer institution you are considering for additional information and questions.
