Master of Science in
Administration
The 36-semester-hour Master of
Science in Administration degree program provides the knowledge and
skills required for managers, administrators, and supervisors to function
more effectively in all types of organizations, plus the specialized
managerial expertise needed for a particular professional field. Concentrations
can be in General, Human Resources, Leadership, Long-Term Care or Public
Administration.
MSA - General Administration Concentration
The General Administration concentration consists of 12-18 credits.
It gives you a maximum flexibility in customizing you degree. The concentration
is divided into functional areas: Legal and Political systems; Organizational
Behavior/Human Resources Administration; Organizational Communications;
and Social and Economic Systems.
MSA – Human Resources Concentration
The Human Resources Administration concentration consists of 12-18 credits.
Concentration course work focuses on complex employment issues related
to labor relations, staffing, training and organization development.
MSA – Leadership Concentration
The Leadership concentration consists of 12-18 credits. It develops
your skills in areas critical to effective command of any management
situation. Areas focused on include group dynamics, organizational change,
conflict management, negotiation, cultural diversity, and communication.
MSA - Public Administration Concentration
The Public Administration concentration (consisting of 15-18 credits)
of the Master of Science in Administration degree is designed to prepare
students for careers in public sector administration. The objectives
of the program are to provide students with background and competency
in five areas including: (1) the political, social, and economic environment
of public administration; (2) public management processes; (3) public
policy analysis; (4) research and analytic methods; and (5) organization
theory and behavior.
