B.S. in Business Administration
Options: Aviation, Management,
Maritime and
Professional Track
The major in business administration is
designed to prepare individuals for the changing nature of the work environment
in business, government, and non-profit organizations, equipping graduates not
only for entry-level positions but for advancement as well. The program builds
upon a solid core of business courses, featuring a tight sequence of major
courses; however, the program also provides the flexibility to specialize in an
area of interest or to obtain a minor through a careful selection of College of
Business electives and free electives. A major in business administration is
also valuable as preparation for law school.
Aviation Option: The Aviation
Program at Northwestern Michigan College has earned a reputation for excellence
in aviation training and graduates fly world-wide as commercial pilots,
corporate pilots, and freight pilots. Aviation students can now earn a B.S. in
Business Administration with an Aviation Concentration through FSU. The follow
criteria applies:

Students must
be concurrently enrolled in the NMC
Aviation Program.

At least 30 FSU semester hours must be completed from Ferris State
University.

To graduate, students must have a 2.0
cumulative GPA, a 2.0 GPA in
the Business Core, and a 2.0 in the Major courses (a
“C” or better in all transfer courses).

Students must meet the University General Education requirements.

To be considered for financial aid from FSU, students must have earned
an associate degree or 64 transferable semester hours.
Management Option: This
challenging, fast-paced career offers prospects in banks, manufacturing,
retailing, construction, hotels, investment companies, accounting firms,
utilities, government and a myriad of other organizations. Graduates of the
Ferris Management program are prepared to work in a variety of venues. They are
immediately employable upon graduation. To be admitted to this program you must
present evidence of graduation from high school or a GED. To enter a Bachelor of
Science degree (B.S.) Program in Business, applicants are expected to meet two
of the following, a minimum high school G.P.A. of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale); ACT math
score of 19 or higher; an ACT reading score of 19 or higher.
Maritime Option: Cadets at the
Great Lakes Maritime Academy in Traverse City can now earn a B.S. in Business
Administration with a concentration in Maritime Management. This program is
intended to increase opportunities for graduates of the Maritime Academy,
preparing them for management positions with shipping companies, shipyards, and
ports, or with non-maritime businesses. Graduates of this program will be
uniquely qualified for management positions within the maritime industry, having
both a U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Marine Officer's License and a strong academic
preparation in business.
Professional Track: The major in
business administration professional track is designed to prepare individuals
for the rapidly changing nature of the work environment in business, government
and other nonprofit organizations. The program is designed to equip graduates
not only for entry-level positions but for advancement as well.
Building upon a core of business courses,
the program features a tight sequence of major courses; however, the program
also provides the flexibility to specialize in an area of interest for the
student. Students with associate's degrees in technical fields will find the
program attractive for building a solid knowledge of business and management
upon their technical expertise. The major is also valuable as preparation for
law school, as well as for graduate studies in business. To be admitted to this
program you must have an associate's degree with at least 24 semester credit
hours of occupational specialty courses, and an overall GPA of 2.0 or better.
