MSU Educational Technology Certificate

Michigan State University College of Education’s Educational Technology Certificate graduate program, at Northwestern Michigan College’s University Center in Traverse City, is designed to meet the needs of educators who wish to adopt new technologies in teaching and learning with their students. Participants have the opportunity to improve their own skills in: use of the multimedia and state-o-f-the-art technologies, including the World Wide Web; strategies for teaching others to use technology; and, in developing a professional portfolio of their work in the applications of technology to instruction.

To earn an MSU Educational Technology Certificate, educators complete a specially designed program of three graduate courses in Educational Technology (3 graduate credits each for a total of 9 semester hours). All three courses are regular Master's level offerings from Michigan State University. The Educational Technology Certificate program is offered each summer at NMC University Center on a Monday – Friday four week schedule, beginning the last week of June and concluding the third week of July. The Certificate coursework is also offered on a once-a-month, Friday evening and Saturday weekend, schedule, during Fall and Spring semesters.

Educators interested in an MSU Master of Arts in Educational Technology (MAET), may transfer all 9 credits of certificate coursework with their application for the graduate program. All required coursework for the MAET program can be completed at the NMC University Center in just two additional summers, in four weeks (from the last week of June to the third week of July: Monday-Friday) each summer or in just eight weeks total. Teaching colleagues from the same grade/curriculum, school building or district are welcome and encouraged to apply.
