MSU Certificate + NMC Associate of Science / Applied Science Degree in Plant Science

Michigan State University together with Northwestern Michigan College, in Traverse City, offer a program in which students may earn an NMC Associate of Science or Applied Science degree and an MSU specialty applied plant certificate (three options).

MSU Certificate options include: Landscape/Nursery; Applied Plant Science - Commercial Turfgrass Operations; or Applied Plant Science - Commercial Horticulture Operations (48 credits of combined NMC + MSU coursework). Adult learners may complete all required courses for the MSU Applied Plant Science Certificate during late afternoons and evenings. Students may also earn an NMC Associate of Science or Applied Science degree by completing an additional 16-18 semester hours of coursework. Those who may have future plans to earn a bachelor’s degree have several NMC University Center degree programs from which to choose or may wish to apply to an MSU College of Agriculture & Natural Resources East Lansing campus program.

The NMC + MSU Applied Plant Science program includes professional workplace internships, industry seminars, independent study options and individual advising and program planning. The program brings together the world-acclaimed expertise of Michigan State’s Institute of Agricultural Technology within the College of Agriculture & Natural Resources and the outstanding “close to home and work” academic reputation of Northwestern Michigan College in northern Michigan.
