Admissions

New and Transfer Students

It is recommended that a student complete the first two years of college courses (and an associate's degree) from Northwestern Michigan College and then apply for admission to a University Center four-year institution. Students are encouraged to complete the MACRAO agreement to facilitate transfer to most UC programs.

Individuals wishing to enroll in courses at the University Center should contact the college or university of their choice and submit the necessary application form and fee directly to their chosen school. Once enrolled, the individual becomes a student at that university.

Advising

A student should consult directly with representatives from each university to learn more about the various institutions and programs available at the University Center. Planning ahead will ensure that the student completes courses or tests required for admission.

Enrollment

Classes offered at the NMC University Center are at the undergraduate level (the third and fourth years of a baccalaureate completion program) or master's at the graduate level.

Registering for Classes

On-site class registration is available through each university's branch office at the University Center. Some universities offer registration by mail, telephone or website. Schedules are available prior to the academic semester at each university's office and at the Welcome Center.

Guest Enrollment

Most institutions offer guest enrollment for individuals interested in enrolling in a specific course but not offically admitted to the University Center. Please consult directly with that institution's representative for more information.

Tuition and Financial Aid

Tuition and Fees

Tuition and fees are assessed by the individual institutions where the student is enrolled rather than by Northwestern Michigan College. Complete information about payment and refund policies is available from each university office.

Financial Aid

Financial aid in the form of scholarships, grants or loans is available. Students are encouraged to apply for financial aid at least nine months prior to the beginning of classes. Contact your specific university for eligibility requirements, applications, and information.
