It is unfortunate that I will be unable to attend the White Pine celebration; WPP was instrumental in sending me on my career path, wherever it ultimately may end up.

Greetings from the Show Me state, a nickname that is widely attributed to Missouri Congressman Willard Duncan Vandiver, who while attending
an 1899 naval banquet turned to his wife and said, “Show me again why we moved here?” No wait, that was me. The local folks pronounce it MissouRAH. The transplants call it MissouREE. Terri and I prefer MISERY. Columbia, in particular, reminds us of Gaylord with three colleges but without the lederhosen. A big happy hour item here: toasted ravioli. “So Chef Boyardee and I are putting down a few Stag beers when this guy walks into the bar ...” Columbia itself is a nice city. With a population of more than 80,000, it still has an abundance of small-town charm. We find it a bit limited for interesting things to do, unless you’re 22, single, and have anaffinity for cheap draft beer late at night (And male: Men’s Journal in its June issue named Columbia the third best singles town in America). We have caught a couple of concerts, Los Lonely Boys and Jonny Lang, At a bar just down the road (http://www.thebluenote.com/), which was nicebecause afterward in five minutes we were home. And a few months ago we saw the Red Wings play the Blues in St. Louis, back when we had the silly notion that Detroit’s hockey team was on the eve of establishing itself as a dynasty. Now, with summer arriving, we are starting to check out some of the mountain biking trails at the state parks nearby.

My first employment after getting my AAS in graphic arts was at a newspaper. My talent in photography and design worked will together as a freelance artist along with computer design.
I am retired and looking forward to learning to play an acoustic guitar and a little gardening.
